A Datadog alternative
for small teams.
Site Qwality covers uptime checks, logs, metrics, OTLP traces, real user monitoring, session replay, Playwright browser checks, status pages and on-call, with a free tier on every product. For the small-SaaS workload priced below, list prices come to $91.67 a month on Site Qwality against $248.20 on Datadog, both billed annually, before Datadog’s host and APM charges. Datadog is deeper on infrastructure, APM, integrations, security products and regions, and it is the better choice if you need those.
For a small SaaS that needs uptime checks, logs, RUM, on-call and a status page, Site Qwality costs less in the scenario below: $110 a month billed monthly or $1,100 a year, against $296.84 a month month-to-month or $248.20 a month billed annually on Datadog (Datadog hosts and APM not included). The gap reverses at low volume: Datadog costs less at around 20 GB of logs a month or under, and with two on-call seats, and its Free plan covers up to 5 hosts at no cost. Site Qwality has no infrastructure or Kubernetes monitoring, far fewer integrations, no security products, no SOC 2 report and no deployment outside the US. If you need any of those, stay on Datadog.

In sintesi
- Datadog prices every product separately, per host, per GB, per event, per session or per seat. Most have three rates (annual, month-to-month and on-demand) and annual is the lowest. Examples at the annual rate: Infrastructure Pro $15 per host, log ingest $0.10 per GB plus $1.70 per million indexed events (15-day retention), API tests $5 per 10,000 runs, On-Call $20 per seat.
- Datadog’s only free plan is Infrastructure: up to 5 hosts with 1-day metric retention. Its other products list paid prices and a 14-day trial, no card required.
- Site Qwality has a free tier on every product, no card. Paid packs are priced per product, annual billing is two months free, and usage is capped at the pack you chose rather than billed past it.
- Where Datadog is cheaper at list price: about 10 GB of logs a month ($18 annual against $50) and two on-call seats ($40 annual against $50). Our packs have a floor, so very small volumes cost more than Datadog’s per-unit prices.
- Not in Site Qwality: host, container and Kubernetes monitoring, 1,000+ integrations, security products, SOC 2, EU or other regions, TCP and ICMP checks, voice-call paging.

When to stay with Datadog
Datadog is a broad platform and several of its strengths have no counterpart here. Stay if any of these describes you.
- You run Kubernetes or many hosts and want host, container and process metrics collected by an agent, with 15-month metric retention and more than 1,000 integrations. Site Qwality has no agent that collects host, container or Kubernetes metrics.
- You need APM depth: continuous profiling, data streams monitoring and automatic service discovery are priced into Datadog’s APM tiers. Site Qwality gives you trace search, span detail and service maps, without profiling or data streams monitoring.
- You need security products in the same console, such as cloud security posture, SIEM or code security.
- Your customers or auditors ask for a SOC 2 report from your monitoring vendor, or you need data in the EU, Japan, Australia or the UK. Site Qwality holds no SOC 2 report or ISO 27001 certificate and runs in one US region.
- You need TCP or ICMP checks, browser tests from several locations, mobile app tests or voice-call paging. Our check types are HTTP, TLS, DNS, DNS record, cron, browser and page speed, browser checks run from Virginia only, and on-call pages go by email, SMS or Slack.
- You only need infrastructure metrics for up to 5 hosts. Datadog’s Free plan costs nothing, with 1-day metric retention.
- You are inside an annual commitment. Datadog says a lower committed seat count takes effect at renewal, so time any move to your renewal date.
What a small SaaS pays at list price
A SaaS with five hosts, 10 uptime checks, 50 GB of logs a month, 100,000 RUM sessions, a status page and five people on call. Site Qwality figures come from our pricing page. Datadog figures are its published list prices on the billing basis shown: annual, or month-to-month.
| Item | Site Qwality | Datadog |
|---|---|---|
| Uptime: 10 checks, 1 location, every 5 minutes (86,400 runs a month) | $0, inside the 100,000 free checks | $43.20 annual, $51.84 month-to-month (8.64 x 10,000 runs at $5 or $6) |
| Uptime: the same 10 checks every minute (432,000 runs) | $15/mo ($150/yr), 500,000-check pack | $216.00 annual, $259.20 month-to-month |
| Uptime: 10 checks every minute from 3 locations (1,296,000 runs) | $50/mo ($500/yr), 2M-check pack | $648.00 annual, $777.60 month-to-month |
| Logs: 50 GB a month, 15-day retention, 1 KB events (50 million) | $50/mo ($500/yr), 50 GB pack that also holds metrics and traces | $90.00 annual, $107.00 month-to-month (ingest $5, indexing 50 x $1.70 or $2.04) |
| Logs: 10 GB a month (10 million events) | $50/mo, the smallest paid pack. The free tier is 1 GB with 3-day retention | $18.00 annual, $21.40 month-to-month. Datadog is cheaper here |
| RUM: 100,000 sessions a month | $10/mo ($100/yr), Observe 100K pack | $15.00 annual, $18.00 month-to-month (Measure) |
| Detail and replay for 5,000 of those sessions | $18/mo ($180/yr): Analyze 5K $10 plus replay 5K $8 | $27.50 annual, $33.00 month-to-month (Investigate 5 x $3 or $3.60, Replay 5 x $2.50 or $3) |
| On-call: 5 people | $50/mo ($500/yr), 25-responder pack | $100 annual, $120 month-to-month (5 seats at $20 or $24) |
| On-call: 2 people | $50/mo ($500/yr), same pack | $40 annual, $48 month-to-month. Datadog is cheaper here |
| Status page (not in the totals) | $0 on a Site Qwality subdomain, $50/mo for a custom domain | Listed under Incident Management, from $30 per seat annual ($36 month-to-month) |
| 5 hosts of infrastructure metrics (not in the totals) | Not offered | $75 annual, $90 month-to-month (Infrastructure Pro), or $0 on the Free plan with 1-day retention |
| Tracing for 5 instrumented hosts (not in the totals) | Included in the telemetry pack, which also holds logs and metrics | $155 annual, $180 month-to-month on top of Infrastructure Pro. Standalone APM is $180 annual |
| Total: 5-minute checks, 50 GB logs, 100K RUM sessions, 5 on-call | $110/mo billed monthly. $1,100/yr billed annually ($91.67/mo) | $296.84/mo month-to-month. $248.20/mo billed annually ($2,978.40/yr) |
| Total: 1-minute checks, 50 GB logs, 100K RUM sessions with 5,000 replays, 5 on-call | $143/mo billed monthly. $1,430/yr billed annually ($119.17/mo) | $537.20/mo month-to-month. $448.50/mo billed annually ($5,382/yr) |
Assumptions: a 30-day month; every check location counts as one run or check on both sides; one log event is 1 KB, so 50 GB is 50 million events and all of it is indexed. Datadog does not publish a GB-to-events conversion and tells customers to count their own events, so the 50 GB line is a model, not a quote: at 500-byte events it becomes $175 annual. Datadog’s logs cost less than our 50 GB pack below roughly 20 to 23 GB a month at 1 KB per event, depending on billing basis (roughly 10 to 14 GB at 500 bytes). For on-call, Datadog is cheaper at two seats and we are cheaper from three. Adding five Infrastructure Pro hosts and APM brings the first Datadog total to $478.20 a month annual ($566.84 month-to-month). The Datadog status page is left out because its docs do not say whether a paid seat is needed to publish one. Datadog says volume and multi-year discounts exist; these are list prices with no discounts, tax or overage. Our annual prices are ten times the monthly price. Datadog prices from the Datadog list-price page, ours from the pricing page.
Run it next to Datadog first.
Nothing here needs you to switch Datadog off. The parts that overlap can run side by side until you trust them.
- Add your uptime checks by URL, pick locations and intervals, and route alerts to Slack, Teams, Discord, Telegram, PagerDuty, webhooks or email. Compare them with your Datadog Synthetics results.
- Point an OpenTelemetry exporter at
traces.siteqwality.comover OTLP/HTTP with your API key, and POST logs and metrics as JSON, to test search and retention on a slice of real traffic. - Add the RUM script to one application and compare Core Web Vitals, errors and replays with Datadog RUM.
- Rebuild the dashboards and alerts you actually use. Site Qwality documents no Datadog importer and no Datadog Agent endpoint.
- Move on-call and the status page once your Datadog commitment allows it.
FAQ
It depends on the workload, so we priced one. For 10 uptime checks, 50 GB of logs, 100,000 RUM sessions and five people on call, list prices are $110 a month on Site Qwality billed monthly against $296.84 on Datadog month-to-month, or $91.67 against $248.20 a month with both billed annually. Datadog hosts and APM are not in those figures. Datadog costs less at around 20 GB of logs a month or under and with two on-call seats, and its Free plan covers up to 5 hosts at no cost. Price your own volumes in our calculator and on Datadog’s list-price page.
Datadog’s pricing page lists a Free plan for Infrastructure only: up to 5 hosts with 1-day metric retention. We found no free tier on its other product pages, which list paid prices and a free trial. The trial runs 14 days and Datadog says no credit card is required. Infrastructure Pro, with 15-month metric retention, is $15 per host per month billed annually or $18 month-to-month.
Site Qwality has one on every product, with no card: 100,000 uptime checks a month at 5-minute intervals from one location, 25 cron monitors, 100 browser-check minutes, 1 GB of logs, metrics and traces with 3-day retention, 1,000 RUM sessions, 100 detailed sessions, 100 replays, one on-call responder, 10 SMS credits and one status page. The limits are real: the free uptime plan checks from one location, and browser checks run from Virginia only.
If you use uptime checks, logs, metrics you send yourself, OTLP traces, RUM, session replay, Playwright browser checks, status pages and on-call, yes: all of those are in the product. If you rely on the Datadog Agent for host, container or Kubernetes metrics, on its 1,000+ integrations or its security products, or you need a SOC 2 report or a non-US region, no. See the stay-with-Datadog list above.
Traces go over OTLP/HTTP from any OpenTelemetry SDK or collector exporter, with your API key in the Authorization header. Logs are POSTed as JSON, NDJSON or plain text, and Fluent Bit or Vector work once their records use our field names. Metrics are POSTed as JSON gauges, counters and histograms. We document no Datadog Agent endpoint and no dashboard importer, so budget time to rebuild dashboards and alerts.
No. In its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Datadog reported approximately 33,400 customers, of which approximately 4,720 had annual run-rate revenue of $100,000 or more, representing 91% of its ARR. That is about 14% of customers, so most are below that line. A small team can use Datadog; the question is what its per-product prices add up to for your usage.
No to both. We hold no SOC 2 report and no ISO 27001 certificate, and the platform runs in one AWS region, us-east-1. Datadog states SOC 2 compliance on its pricing page and lists sites in the US, EU (Germany), Japan, Australia and the UK. Our Security page says what we do and do not have.
Datadog lists three rates per product. For Infrastructure Pro they are $15, $18 and $18 per host per month; for On-Call, $20, $24 and $29 per seat; for API tests, $5, $6 and $7.20 per 10,000 runs. This page shows the annual rate first and the month-to-month rate beside it, and leaves on-demand out of the totals. Site Qwality has monthly and annual prices only, and an annual plan is ten times the monthly price.
